Metter or SE Bulloch

I remember a football game event.  Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it was SE Bulloch.  I don't remember which game of the season it was, but our opponent had not been scored on all year.

On one play, our fearless quarterback got free and was running down the sideline headed for the goal line being pursued by a "host" of would-be tacklers.  The QB had a good lead and was really pumping for all he was worth!  We were going to be the first team to score on this opponent this year.  Everyone was screaming their heads off.  The noise was deafening.  The excitement was running over!

All of a sudden, the ball fell out of the QB's hands and went out of bounds.  In his earnest pumping to avoid capture, one of his knees had hit the ball and knocked it out of his hands.

We didn't score the whole game!

We sure ribbed Bill pretty hard about that one.  I know I did.

Bill, if I have mis-stated anything, please correct me.  This is one of my favorite memories.  We were learning the lesson "stuff happens" in life.
